Paver Walkway and Hardscape Build in Progress

This one is moving right along. The stone steps are set into the hillside, the base grade is established across the backyard, and the paver work near the house is starting to take real shape. Rain slowed us down for a bit - that's just part of working outdoors - but we're back on site and pushing this forward.

Here's what we were working with: a sloped lot with a significant grade change running from the back of the house up into the wooded area, plus a large open backyard space that needed to be fully graded and shaped before any hardscaping could go in. That's a lot of ground to move and a lot of decisions to get right before the pretty stuff starts.

The stone steps climbing the hillside are a good example of why proper grading matters so much. Each tread has to be set level and at the right elevation, or the whole run feels off when you're walking it. Getting that right on a natural slope - especially after rain - takes patience and precision. No shortcuts.

Closer to the house, the paver section under the covered deck area is already starting to show what this space is going to become. The gravel base is compacted, the first pavers are down, and the framing for the walkway extension is set and leveled. What looks like a construction zone right now is actually a lot of careful, methodical work happening in sequence.
