Front Entry Landscaping Tearout and Replant Done Right

Sometimes a yard just needs a hard reset. The old plantings had run their course - overgrown in some spots, thin in others - and the layout wasn't doing the home any favors. So we pulled everything out and started fresh with a cleaner design that actually works with the house.

The goal was simple: keep the warmth and character the home already had, but tighten up the layout so it looks intentional. We kept the existing boulders and worked them into the new bed design as a natural border. That's a detail that goes a long way - it ties the hardscape and plantings together instead of having them compete.

New plantings went in across the front bed, with fresh dark mulch laid throughout to set everything off. The new plant selections are low-profile right now, which is exactly how it should look at this stage. They'll fill in nicely and the spacing gives each plant room to do its thing without crowding.

We're also coming back later this month to finish the lawn with fresh sod. Right now the turf in front is a little rough from the demo work, but once the sod goes down, the whole front of the house is going to come together. That's the thing about landscape installation done in phases - each step builds on the last.
