Some front beds just run their course. What was there before was overgrown and didn't do much for the house. The homeowner wanted something cleaner - plants that would actually look good through the seasons without demanding a lot of time.

That's exactly what we designed for them. We pulled the old plantings and started fresh. The new bed features a Japanese maple as the focal point, surrounded by low-growing evergreen shrubs that hold their shape and color year-round. No aggressive spreaders, no high-maintenance perennials that need constant deadheading. Just solid, well-chosen plants that work together.

We also installed a concrete block border to give the bed a clean, defined edge. It keeps mulch in place, separates the bed from the lawn, and adds a finished look without being flashy. A fresh layer of dark mulch ties everything together and suppresses weeds so the homeowner isn't out there pulling every other week.

The upkeep going forward is simple. A mulch refresh once a year and an occasional trim here and there - that's really it. The plants we selected were chosen specifically so this bed can look sharp without a lot of intervention. That's the goal with every landscape installation we do.

Whether you're dealing with an overgrown foundation bed or just want something that looks better and takes less work, our landscape design and installation process is built around finding that balance. Good-looking and manageable. It's not one or the other.
