Slopes are tricky. Left unmanaged, a steep grade behind your house can erode, shift, and slowly eat into usable yard space. The fix isn't always complicated - but it does need to be done right. That's where a properly built retaining wall makes all the difference.

Here's what we were working with: a significant slope running alongside the foundation, with an existing concrete wall already in place on one end. The goal was to tie into that structure with a new block retaining wall and start reclaiming the yard. We got it done in a single day.

The wall itself is built with textured block in a curved layout - not a straight run. That curve isn't just for looks. It follows the natural contour of the slope and actually helps distribute the lateral pressure more evenly across the wall. Getting that geometry right from the ground up is the kind of detail that separates a wall that holds for decades from one that shifts after a few winters.

We also want to be upfront about something: every retaining wall we build comes with a 5-year warranty. That's not a throwaway line - it's us putting our name on the work. Retaining wall construction is one of those things where shortcuts aren't visible right away, but they show up eventually. We're not in the business of hoping you don't notice.

The grading work isn't finished yet - there's still more to do before this yard is fully pulled together. But the wall is in, it's solid, and the foundation for the rest of the outdoor space is set. If you've got a slope that's been giving you trouble, this is exactly the kind of work we do.
