760 Sq Ft Paver Patio and Walkway Built on a Sloped Lakefront Yard

Slopes are one of the trickier challenges in outdoor living design. A 3-foot grade change sounds manageable until you're actually standing there trying to figure out how to make the space functional - and good-looking. That's exactly what we were working with on this lakefront property.

We installed a 760 sq ft paver patio, a curved walkway, and steps that work together as one connected system. The patio sits tucked under the deck, giving the homeowners a shaded outdoor area with a full view of the lake. The walkway sweeps out from there in a wide curve, leading all the way down toward the water. It's the kind of layout where you actually want to walk outside - not just because you have to, but because it feels good to move through the space.

The grade change was the real puzzle here. A slope that steep can easily become unusable or even unsafe if it isn't handled right. We cut in stone steps along the side of the property to manage that elevation, and graded the surrounding areas so everything flows naturally. Fresh straw mulch covers the graded ground, giving it a clean, finished look while the ground settles in.

What we ended up with is a yard that actually works. The patio, walkway, steps, and landscaping all connect to each other - nothing feels slapped together or like an afterthought. That's the part we take seriously. Anyone can lay pavers. Making the whole property feel intentional and functional takes a different level of planning.
